Untrained driver manoeuvres RTC bus into rivulet, alert passengers alight, save themselves in Nagarkurnool

Nagarkurnool: A major accident was averted when a bus carrying more than 45 passengers was rescued by the alert police, road transport officials and the passengers of the bus, who acted in time and stopped the bus from being drowned into the Dundubi rivulet at Raghupatipet village of Kalwakurthy mandal in Nagarkurnool district on Wednesday.

According to sources, an RTC bus driven by a person appointed by the transport Corporation on temporary basis, was heading towards Kalwakurthy from Telkapally with over 45 passengers on board. The untrained driver unknown of the consequences tried to crossover the Dundubhi river which was overflowing across its bridge near Raghupatipet village.

The driver, who was recently appointed in the event of RTC strike, who drove over the bridge, could not control the bus and its tyres were slipped and the bus moved to the one side of the bridge, under which the rivulet flowing with full pressure. The alert passengers, who feared a major accident was going to be happen, immediately alerted everyone and they all alighted from the bus and informed the local police and the RTA officials. The RTA officials and the Kalwakurthy police, who swung into action, brought a crane and averted a major accident by shifting the bus. "We could avert a big accident and save the lives of more than 45 passengers," said the Kalwakurthy police.

Meanwhile, the people have expressed concerns over the appointment of untrained private drivers to drive RTC buses. They urged the government to immediately resolve the RTC employees' issues and ensure a safe and secure transportation to the public.
