Use the library to gain knowledge: Library Chairman Rajender
Nirmal: Everyone should utilize a library facility to improve their knowledge and to become a good civilian, stated District Library Chairman E Rajendar. He inaugurated 54th National Library Week celebrations by lighting a lamp at the District Library Centre in Nirmal on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chairman said youth should utilise library for reading competitive examination books. Stating that the library is filled with all competitive books and newspapers to gain knowledge, he urged the youth to avoid using cell phones.
As part of the week-long celebrations from November 14 to 20, books display will be held on November 15; essay writing on 16; poets compound on 17; games on 18; Rangoli competitions on 19 and celebrations conclude on 20.
Chairman Rajender ssaid that thousands of books have been computerised and the libraries in the district have been developed with Rs1 crore. Free coaching will be given to the unemployed youth to prepare for comparative exams at the district library.
District Public Relation Officer Abdul Kareem remembered that libraries had played a crucial role in freedom fight. He suggested to utilise the library to gain knowledge as well as to develop concentration, friendship between various persons which will give an opportunity to know different cultures and customs, he said.
District Library Secretary P Rajyalaxmi reminded how the father of library SR Ranganathan divided the books in library into 10 sections to get the book one wanted easily from a
vast collection.
Girls Gurukul School Principal Niradi Ganga Shekar, Government High School Somwarpet Headmaster Raghuraj, district library committee member T Balaram Naik, Kalam Gunam Society president Usman, Kavi Venkat, Ansar, Kadari Raghunath, Raju, Pambala Ramesh Raj Kumar and school students were present.
