Uttam will continue as TPCC Chief: Khuntia

Hyderabad: AICC Telangana Incharge R.C. Khuntia said that Nalgonda MP N. Uttam Kumar Reddy would continue as the President of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC).

Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan on Monday, Khuntia said that the party High Command had no proposal to change the TPCC President at the moment. He said that the party would contest the forthcoming municipal elections under the leadership of Uttam Kumar Reddy.

Khuntia said that the TPCC Executive Committee would meet on June 29 in Nagarjuna Sagar. He said a committed headed by TPCC Working President Ponnam Prabhakar has been formed to oversee strategy for municipal elections. He also informed that zonal, district and block committee meetings would be held from 1st to 3rd of every month. He said the meeting with newly elected MPTC and ZPTC members would be held in the first week of July.

The AICC Incharge said that the party was assessing the reasons for defeat in last Assembly elections at the ground level and corrective measures would be taken to strengthen the party.

Speaking about Munugode MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy's controversial statements against the party and its leadership, Khuntia said that the Congress party has given lot of importance to him. He said it was unfortunate that despite enjoying the posts of Lok Sabha member, MLC and then MLA, Rajagopal Reddy was making comments against the Congress party. However, he said that the Congress party would not tolerate those violating discipline.
