Hyderabad: State BJP president K Laxman and representatives of the Valmiki community association have submitted a representation to the officials of the Regional Office of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) Board, Hyderabad demanding a change of title of a film.

In a statement here on Monday, Laxman said that the members of the association have called on him and complained about naming 'Valmiki' title to the gangster movie.

The association president Gopi Boya along with others said that they don't have any objection to the film. However, the name of the author of the ancient epic Ramayana and equating it with gangster is hurting the sentiments of the members of the community.

Against this backdrop, a representation was submitted to the CBFC officials for changing the title of the movie, he said.

Gopi Boya said that earlier the association had met the director, producers and hero of the movie and requested them to change the title.

However, there was no response from them. If the film is released without changing the title then the Valmikis from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will join hands and stall the release of the movie, he warned.

If the buyers of the movie are at loss then the director, producers and actors of the film will be solely responsible for it, he stated.
