Sircilla: Vemulawada MLA Chennamaneni Ramesh Babu's Indian citizenship is not valid, stated the Central government. The Central Home Ministry released an official statement on Wednesday that the MLA's Indian citizenship has been cancelled.

Orders were issued by Sudhakar, Secretary to the Government of India, with the IC number 260 7 2 7/30/2008, which stated briefly about the citizenship.

Ramesh Babu has been facing legal battle with Congress leader Adi Srinivas, who challenged the citizenship of Ramesh in High Court. The High Court earlier dismissed the judgment of Union Home department on this issue and asked for further inquiry and judgement based on Article 10(3). The High Court also stated to complete the enquiry within 12 weeks of commencing.

Following the orders of Telangana High Court, both parties presented their arguments in the inquiry conducted on October 31 by advocate Y Ramarao in support of MLA Babu and lawyers Kiran Rao and Rohit Rao in support of Srinivas, which were heard at Border Management Secretary number 124 in North block in Union Home affairs Department in Delhi.

In the inquiry, Srinivas had provided evidences that Ramesh Babu had obtained the Indian citizenship by violating rules and regulations, in front of Home Affairs department.

Twenty days after a thorough and complete investigation, the Union Home Ministry has again confirmed that TRS MLA Ramesh Babu is not a citizen of India.

Responding to The Hans India, MLA Ramesh Babu said that he will again reach the High Court and will fight to resolve the issue till justice done to him.
