Vemulawada: Under construction bridge on Mulawagu collapses
Vemulawada: A high level under construction bridge on Mulwagu in Vemulawada on Friday collapsed due to heavy inflows of water due continuous down- pour for the past few days in Rajanna Sircilla district. The iron rods used in the bridge construction were swept away in the rainwater, resulting in the collapse of the bridge.
Construction of two bridges o Mulwagu tank is being going on since 2016.
Construction works of one bridge were completed and the other bridge, which is under construction, has been collapsed due to rainfall, recorded highest in the district.
Responding to the incident, R&B Minister Vemula Prashant Reddy issued orders to ENC (R&B) Ravinder Rao to appoint Chief Engineer for probing an enquiry about the incident and order to submit the report within 24 hours.
After coming to know about the details from ENC(R&B) RavinderRao,the Minister said that this is a four-lane bridge and the construction works of two lanes to one side is completed and is functioning. While the construction of other side two lanes is under progress.
But for the past few days,about 13 cm rain fall was recorded in the district,due to which water flow in Mula Vagu was increased and the centering became loose and bent so the floor beem also bent a little bit. The construction works of slab are not yet completed.
The Minister informed that the bridge is being constructed using browsing type technology. The bridge floor does not take any load only and the arch, which are hanging, will take the load. It may cost Rs 20 lakhs to reconstruct the damaged part of the bridge and it is the responsibility of the agency to complete it. A team is deployed under ENC(R&B) Ravinder Rao and orders are issued for enquiry, Minister Reddy informed.
