Hyderabad: Senior Congress leader V Hanumantha Rao on Tuesday said he would go on a fast-unto-death strike after conclusion of the second phase of the ongoing rural local body elections, if the State government fails to reinstall the statue of Dr BR Ambedkar at Panjagutta crossroads in Hyderabad.

Speaking to media here, Rao alleged that the State government had filed cases against the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) sanitation workers for desecration of BR Ambedkar statue.

He also wondered why none of the cabinet Ministers and MLAs of the ruling party were talking about the Ambedkar statue incident.

Commenting on the Kerala tour of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, the Congress leader ridiculed that the Chief Minister had time to meet his Kerala counterpart Pinarayi Vijayan but did not have time to meet the family members of distressed Intermediate students, who committed suicide.
