VH urges Cong to fight against Uranium mining at Nallamala
Hyderabad: All India Congress Committee (AICC) secretary V Hanumantha Rao on Monday urged the party leaders to launch a fight against the decision of Uranium extraction at Nallamala forest by the Central and State governments.
He urged the TPCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy to mobilise people of the State on the issue and prepare an action plan to launch an agitation programme.
Addressing the media, Rao also urged Uttam to convene a meeting of the senior party leaders and take their opinion before launching it. He alleged that the party leaders were only confining themselves to press meets on serious problems faced by the people of the State while noting that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was taking advantage of the same and treating the Congress leaders lightly.
He said the Uranium extraction would affect the two Telugu speaking States and endanger the lives of Chenchu tribals living in the area. He said that if needed the party leaders should meet AP Chief Minister YS Jagan.
Rao utilised the occasion to target city police for slapping traffic challans in an indiscriminate manner on the innocent people of the State and added that the only aim of the police appeared to be to collect traffic challans in the name of drunken drive and other traffic violations.
