Victim's kin to get aid: SC Commission

Hanamkonda: Crime against women has been a matter of concern, Telangana SC/ST Commission Member Chilakamarri Narasimha said. He was at Lashkar Singaram in Hanamkonda on Monday to console the parents of Munigala Harathi, who was killed by her friend |Md Shahid on January 10. Condemning the incident, Narasimha said that law will take its own course to ensure punishment for perpetrators of crime against women.

"The SC/ST Commission would give Rs 8.25 lakh to the victim's family as per the constitutional provision. Half of the amount would be provided to victim's kin as soon as the police submit the copy of first information report (FIR) to the Commission. This apart, the administration would provide provisions free of cost for three months to the victim's family," Narasimha said. He told the authorities to file SC/ST Atrocities case against the accused. He said that women's safety is a high priority for the government. Further, he assured Harathi's family members of extending government's support to them.
