Vikarabad: The Southwest Monsoon continued to be normal over Telangana for the second day on Tuesday. Rain occurred at many places across over eight districts in the State, including Vikarabad, the Met department bulletin said. While there was 2 cm of rainfall in Kodangal in the district, Bomraspeta recorded 1 cm. There was light rainfall (up to 1 cm) at a few places, while moderate rain (2 to 6 cm) occurred at isolated places.

The bulletin warned of heavy rain very likely to lash isolated places in ten Telangana districts on July 3. According to the forecast, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely at many places in the State from July 3 to 7. No large change during the period July 8-10 is the weather outlook.

The heavy rain is being attributed to the well-marked low-pressure area over the north-west Bay of Bengal and its adjoining areas of the West Bengal and Odisha coasts which now lies over south-east Jharkhand and its adjoining areas of Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal. The associated upper air cyclonic circulation extends up to 7.6 km above the mean sea level.
