Karimnagar: The village panchayat workers on Monday demanded the government to issue GO regarding the salary of Rs 8,500 to panchayat workers that was announced by the government.

Along with the representatives of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), the willage panchayat workers staged dharna here in front of the Collectorate in Karimnagar and submitted a memorandum to the District Joint Collector.

Speaking on the occasion, Gopalaraopet Sarpanch Sathya Prasanna said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had announced that the government would give a salary of Rs 8,500 the villager panchayat workers but he did not issue a GO in this regard so far.

There is no job guarantee and safety along with insurance to the village panchayat workers who keep the villages neat and clean by waking up early in the morning.

The district secretary Bandari Shekar speaking on the occasion said that there is no clarity on the announcement that was made by the CM KCR regarding the sanctioning of Rs 8,500 salary to the village panchayat workers.

He also demanded the government to release the wages which are pending for the past three months and also provide job security to the village panchayat workers.

Bandari Shekar urged the village panchayat workers to participate in Mahadharna which is going to be held in Hyderabad on September 18 at Indira Park and make it a grand success.

The Village Panchayat Workers Union leader Kamalakar, Kumar, Ravinder Rao, Mallaiah, Parshuram, Rajaiah, Raju, Lakshmi, Durgavva and CITU district joint secretar Koppula Shankar and others were present.
