Village Revenue Officer in Anti-Corruption Bureau net

Jagtial: State Anti-Corruption Bureau sleuths caught village revenue officer (VRO) Gopu Bapaiah red-handed at Tahsildar office here on Monday afternoon.

According to officials, Gopu Bapaiah is working as the VRO of Medipally and Rajeshwa Raopet under Metpalli mandal of Jagtial district. Bapaiah demanded a bribe of Rs 3,000 from Mohammad of Bandalingapuram village to get the latter's land mutated and to issue pattadar passbook. The sleuths caught the VRO while he was accepting money from the complainant and recovered the tainted money.

The ACB sleuths arrested the VRO and produced him before the Special Judge for SPE & ACB cases, Karimnagar.

The ACB Director General has called upon the general public to contact them on tollfree No 1064 if any public servant of revenue department demands bribe to discharge their legitimate duties.
