Villagers complain against erring excise staff in Kamareddy

Locals complaining to Joint Collector P Yadi Reddy about excise officials at Prajavani programme at Agricultural Market in Bichkunda mandal centre on Saturday

Kamareddy: The locals have complained to Joint Collector P Yadi Reddy that the excise officials are not controlling illegal liquor - palm wine - imported from Maharashtra and Karnataka States. They alleged that adulterated palm wine (kallu) in the villages of Jukkal, Madnur, Bichkunda, Pedda Kodapgal and Pitlam mandals, border zone of Maharashtra and Karnataka. They complained that the health of the people of these mandals is deteriorating after consuming adulterated liquor.

The Joint Collector was angry as the excise officials were absent for the Prajavani (Grievance Day) programme conducted in Bichkunda on Saturday. He was furious at the inaccessibility of the excise staff.

Prajavani programme will be held at the Agricultural Market in Bichkunda mandal centre on every first Saturday for the benefit of the people of Jukkal constituency.

It was reported that the officials of excise, forest, R&B, irrigation, SC, ST, and BC welfare, fisheries, RTC and other departments were absent for the Grievance Day programme.

The villagers also said that earlier cannabis had been cultivated in the constituency and sales on the high and the district excise officials turned a blind eye to the several complaints.

Stating that district-level officials are neglecting to attend the grievance day to attend public issues, Joint Collector Yadi Reddy ordered the officials concerned to take action against those, who are absent on the day.

About 18 applications were received from the public on the day. Some of these were applications for double bedroom houses. Khadgam villagers complained to the JC about sand being smuggled during nights from Manjira catchment area.

DRDA PD Chandramohan Reddy, Tahsildar Venkat Rao, MPDO Anand, district and mandal officials of respective departments attended the programme.
