Huzurnagar: Education Minister G Jagadish Reddy questioned that as to why people should vote for the Congress leaders who had called for the closure of 25,000 MW thermal power plant in Damercherla of Miryalaguda constituency, which was designed to cater to future power needs of people of the State.

On Friday, along with party MP candidate from Nalgonda Vemireddy Narsimha Reddy, Jagadish Reddy participated in a road show at Huzurnagar. Addressing the people, he reminded that giving a befitting reply to Andhra leaders, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had provided round-the-clock power supply in the State.

"Keeping the future demand for power, the Chief Minister laid foundation stone for 25,000 MW thermal power plant at Damercherla," he said, questioning the Congress leaders as to how far it was justified to oppose such a mega power plant constructed in the interest of the State?

He questioned Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee chief Uttam Kumar Reddy why he did not respond to Komatireddy Venkat Reddy's remarks on Damercherla power plant during the recent Assembly elections.

He dared Uttam and Komati to express their opinion on thermal power plant, lest people consider them to be against the power plant and development of the region. Stating that Congress leaders were unable to digest the 24-hour power supply in the State by the TRS government, he alleged that Congress leaders always gave priority to power, contracts and minister posts and never paid attention to development of the region.

He added that State would witness dark days again if people vote for Congress or BJP in the upcoming polls. He urged people of Huzurnagar and Nalgonda MP territorial to back TRS party candidate Vemireddy Narsimha Reddy in the interest of the State. Party leader Shanampudi Saidi Reddy, party local leaders, workers and supporters took part in the campaign.

Meanwhile, TRS MP candidate Vemireddy Narsimha Reddy's wife Indira along with Local MLA Nomula Narsimhaiah's wife Nomula Laxmi carried out election campaign at Halia of Nagarjunasagar constituency. They urged the people to vote for the pink party in the Parliament elections for the development of Nalgonda MP constituency on all aspects.
