Voters list summary revision is sluggish in Nizamabad

Nizamabad: The revision of voter's list is very slow, which is clear that the process couldn't be completed before Tuesday (October 15), the final deadline after many extensions. The revision process began in August. The voters list plays a vital role in a democracy but there is carelessness in every step in preparing the list. Booth-Level Officers (BLO) play a key role in the summary revision of the voters list. Village-level government field functionaries act as BLOs. 85 per cent Anganwadi workers, 10 per cent VROs, five per cent MEPMA, DWAKRA field staff works in preparing the list and the summary.

Summary revision is supposed to be completed by September 30 but it wasn't completed in Nizamabad and Kamareddy districts. in these districts, 10 per cent work only was completed so the deadline was extended to October 15. Even then only 40% works were completed till date in these two districts.

The employees, who were assigned to do the voter's list summary revision, alleged that the revision works were not completed as departmental workload was increased. In September and August months, Anganwadi workers were given the heavy works of Poshan month and breastfeeding week and in the same way the VROs were given burdened with heavy revenue work.

They allege that due to these heavy work burden, they could not complete the work of summary revision. They showed Bathukamma festival celebrations and RTC employees strike for not completing the work even after the deadline was extended for about 15 days. Out of the total 13,00,044 voters in Nizamabad district, details of 1,67,410 voters only were checked. In Kamareddy, there are total of 6,31,138 voters but only 2,11,151 voters' details were checked.

Nizamabad urban constituency has the poorest summary revision that is 7.42% in the united Nizamabad district. There are 2,70,975 voters in Nizamabad urban Assembly constituency. Yellareddy with 2,10,169 voters has recorded the highest in the summary revision that is 39.68%. Jukkal with 1,89,085 voters in the second place with 32.30% and followed by Kamareddy with 2,31,884 voters and with 28.76% summary revision and Armoor with 1,93,093 voters and with 24.82% revision.

Banswada has 1,84,435voters and 12.94% revision was done; Nizamabad rural has 2,37,963 voters and 12.5% revision was completed; Bodhan has 2,07,269 voters and 12.99% revision was done; Balkonda has 2,06,316 voters and 21.35% revision was done by October 15.

Only one day is left for the deadline and not even 50 per cent of the summary revision is completed.

During the summary revision of voters list, the field officials will conduct door-to-door verification to ensure that all residents in that jurisdiction are in the voters list. Any changes in name, gender, age, change of address and polling station, dead or migrated and other such details will be corrected.
