Wanaparthy: The district administration of Wanaparthy has decided to launch the 15-day action plan for the urban and municipal areas in the district from October 20.

As part of the programme, District Collector Swetha Mohanty took part in a meeting held with the municipal authorities on Friday in her chambers and discussed the modalities of implementing the action plan.

Addressing the officials, the Collector said that on the lines of 30-day action plan of development and cleanliness taken up in villages, which became a grand success across the State last month, there was a need to bring cleanliness and development in the urban municipalities too.

As part of this programme, the District Collector has directed the municipal officials, staff and ward special officers to take up the action plan from October 20 to November 3.

"On the lines of 30-day action plan, we have also decided to launch the 15-day action plan in the urban municipalities to take up the cleanliness and development works. We have directed the concerned municipal authorities, MEPMA officials to chart out the action plan and launch the programme from October 20 onwards," said the Collector.

As part of the 15-day action plan, during the first three days, the authorities must organise ward-wise meetings with the concerned ward members and the people in the ward and should solve the problems like cleaning of drainages, removing of unwanted trees and bushes in the open lands, clearing the old and abandoned buildings, filling up of potholes on the roads, plantation of trees on either side of roads and installation of street lights and erection of new electrical poles in place of damaged ones poles, etc.

The Collector said the ward meeting was very important and the authorities must make sure that at least 150 people from each ward attend the meeting. To identify the problems, the Collector asked the officials to see that ward members and municipal staff concerned to conduct Padayatra every day to identify the problems and issues in the ward.

The first three days would be allocated for conducting ward meetings and the next 10 days, works would be taken up. In the last two days, the authorities would analyse the development works and study the programmes by comparing the condition of the ward prior to launch of the action plan and after the implementation of action plan, the Collector informed.
