Warangal: The Association of Kakatiya University Teachers (AKUT) which condemned the Kakatiya University (KU) Executive Council (EC)'s decision to cancel the appointment of 38 assistant professors demanded that they re-examine the issue. It may be mentioned here that a few days ago the EC of the KU passed a resolution to annul the appointment of 34 assistant professor posts recruited under the notifications issued in 2009 and 2012.

Speaking to media persons here on Monday, AKUT president R Mallikarjuna Reddy urged the EC to take the cognizance of the Supreme Court directions in regard with the recruitments pertaining to the notifications released in 2009 and 2012.

AKUT president Dr R Mallikarjuna Reddy said the EC has ignored the Supreme Court's directions while cancelling the appointments under notifications no. 01/2009, 02/2009 dated 13-12-2009 and 04/2012 dated 21-12-2012.

"The EC needs to review its decision as per the directions of the SC which stated that if the appointment of certain candidates is deemed illegal due to the absence of full quorum of the EC, it would seriously jeopardise the interest of the all such appointments which were made by the incomplete EC strength. The Supreme Court also observed that it would be open to the university to place all recommendations regarding recruitments by the selection committees before the EC afresh and seek approval and confirmation of their appointments with effect from the date on which they were appointed," Reddy said, quoting the court's observations.

He said that the AKUT would continue its protests until its demand was met. The administration in the university has been paralysed due to the protests, he added.

Faculty N Rama whose appointment was in question said that they have done nothing wrong. "We worked hard to get these jobs and have been working dedicatedly for about 10 years. The EC's decision would pull my family on to the road," she said.
