Warangal: AP boat mishap victims kin get relief

Warangal: Although the loss they suffered was irreversible, family members of the nine persons of Kadipikonda, who died in a boat mishap in River Godavari near Kachaluru under Devipatnam mandal in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh on September 15, got a sort of solace in the name of ex-gratia from the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana governments on Monday.

Wardhannapet MLA Aroori Ramesh who along with Warangal Urban District Collector Prashant Jeevan Patil gave away the cheques to the bereaved families at Kadipikonda, said that the ex-gratia includes Rs 10 lakh from AP Government and Rs 5 lakh from Telangana government for each family.

He said that five of the families have received Rs 6.30 lakh as the victims were eligible under labour insurance policy. This apart, the TRS party had promised to give Rs 2 lakh to the families whose victim had the party membership.

Even though it takes a lot of time for the families to get compensations, the Telangana and AP governments worked together to provide immediate relief to the kin of victims, MLA said.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector advised the family members to spend the relief amount wisely by depositing it in banks. He assured the victims' families to approach him if they need any help. He said that people need to take precautionary measures before venturing into any expedition.

Among those received ex-gratia are.. Baske Rajender's wife Lalitha, G Rajendraprasad's kin Rama Devi, baske Dharmaraju's wife Renuka, K Ravi's wife Pushpa, Konduri Rajkumar's kin Kousalya, Baske Aravind's kin Kavitha Rani, Baske Rajendraprasad's kin Anuradha Jyothy, Baske Venkataiah's kin Susheela and D Hemanth's kin. In all, the family members received a relief amount of Rs 1.66 crore. RDO K Venka Reddy, Tahsildar B Nageshwar Rao and Corporator B Srilatha were among others present.
