Warangal: CCS and Mills Colony Police on Monday arrested a thief and recovered booty
Warangal: The CCS and Mills Colony Police on Monday arrested a thief and recovered booty worth around Rs 5 lakh from him. The accused has been identified as 40-year-old Md Rabbani alias Baba of Shambunipet area in Warangal city. Speaking to media persons, Warangal ACP S Sarangapani said that Rabbani, who used to make a living through selling samosas and working as a daily wage labourer, habituated to liquor, turned a thief to make easy money.
On November 30, he broke open a locked house located close to his residence and made away with jewellery and cash. Later, he concealed the booty at a secluded location near Ursu Gutta in the city. Based on the house owner's complaint, the Mills Colony police started investigation. The police identified the thief with the help of CCTV footage of the locality, the ACP said.
The Mills Colony police arrested Rabbani during a vehicle check near Bhattupally Bypass road. The police said that Rabbani was on his way to sell the gold jewellery when they intercepted him. After interrogation, Rabbani confessed to his crime. The police recovered 120 grams of gold, 36 grams of silver, one watch and cash Rs 21,400 from him, the ACP said.
The ACP commended the CCS Inspectors I Ramesh Kumar, K Srinivas Rao and Mills Colony Inspector D Naresh Kumar and CCS Sub-Inspector BVS Rao for arresting the accused within 24 hours of receiving complaint.
