Warangal: The TRS fully supports the 'Bharat Bandh' call on December 8, Minister for Panchayat Raj Errabelli Dayakar Rao has said. Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, he criticised the Central government for unilaterally going with the Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020; The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020 and The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill, 2020.

He said that all the TRS cadres would take part in the Bharat Bandh call to show their concern towards farmers. "The exploitative three farm bills will turn farmers into labourers. The bills will make the farmers mortgage their farms to the rich," Errabelli said, accusing the Centre of adapting anti-farmers laws.

On the contrary, the State government was implementing several welfare schemes such as Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bima, crop loan waiver, 24-hour free electricity supply etc for the agriculture sector to ensure farmers in a better position, the Minister said. Apart from welfare schemes, the Telangana government was also ensuring irrigation facility to all the farmers by constructing projects, he added. Centre needs to learn from the TRS government, the Minister said, referring to the welfare schemes of the State.

The Centre wants to implement the farm bills even though the farming community in BJP-led States like Madhya Pradesh was also opposing them, Errabelli said. Recalling that the TRS had opposed the farm bills in the Parliament, the Minister said that the TRS government will not sit idly if the Centre wants to hit the livelihood of the farmers.

Stating that the agriculture bills are harmful to the interests of the farmers, Minister Dayakar Rao said that they will continue to fight until the new agricultural laws are repealed. He appealed to people and the TRS cadres to support the Bharat Bandh on December 8.
