Warangal: Call it the impatience or the complacence, the city is abuzz with hectic activity since the coronavirus (Covid-19) lockdown restrictions were eased considerably, albeit with regional variations.

With no Covid-19 positive cases in Warangal Urban District of late, people seem to be complacent as they were seen roaming all over the city without much fuss. Even though the experts say that the staggered pandemic is likely to peak in June-July in India, denizens seem to be irresistible to stop themselves from taking to streets.

The sudden blowout of coronavirus in which a whopping 25 cases were surfaced in Warangal on a single day on April 3 was certainly a shock for the denizens and as well as the administration.

The authorities worked hard while the denizens also abiding by the clampdown orders. Thereafter, the district had witnessed two Covid-19 positive cases with the last one on April 25.

On Friday, Warangal Urban has become zero Covid-19 district with last of its patient got discharged from Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad.

Although the district is eligible to be classified as the orange zone, the announcement is yet to be made by the government. With the way the traffic was seen on the streets, it seems like that the denizens have taken lockdown restriction for granted.

Majority of the business establishments were seen open, this despite the government had suggested alternative days to maintain physical distancing. Even though the authorities are slapping penalty on business establishments that are flouting lockdown norms, it appears no deterrent to them.

"The easing of lockdown restrictions is understandable as the government was under immense pressure to put the economy on track. People need understand the sensitivity of the situation and remain indoors unless there was something necessary to venture out.

Although majority of the people were seen wearing masks, the all important norm of maintaining physical distancing has gone haywire," BV Rajgopal, a teacher, told

The Hans India.
