Warangal: Dry Day every Friday
Warangal: In a bid to keep a tab on vector-borne and seasonal diseases and to create awareness about the malady, the Warangal Rural district administration has decided to observe 'Dry Day' every Friday. Speaking at the convergence meeting on control of vector-borne and seasonal diseases here on Friday, Rural District Collector M Haritha said that with rainy season is around there was every possibility of spread of seasonal diseases especially due to mosquitoes.
"Educate the people about the importance of keeping water storage containers, sumps, flowerpots etc in the households and surroundings dry. The stagnation of water is likely to lead to the breeding of mosquitoes, hence, the onus is health officials to ensure measures to keep surroundings dry," she said.
She said that Rs 10,000 each for all the 143 health sub centres in the district has been allocated for sanitation purpose. All the panchayat secretaries and ASHA workers have to carry awareness rallies about the Dry Day besides enlightening the people about the Dos and Don'ts for preventing/controlling mosquito breeding. The Collector said that Deworming Drive would be conducted on August 8 during which children between the age group of 1 and 19 years would be administered albendazole tablets.
