Warangal: Experts dwell on changing trends in entrepreneurship

Warangal: In times of intense corporate culture - perform or perish, it's difficult to survive without entrepreneurial education, Col BS Rao, Dean, School of Entrepreneurship, SR Innovation Exchange (SRiX) said.

Speaking at the valedictory session of faculty development programme (FDP) organised by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, SR Engineering College (SREC), Warangal, sponsored by the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India, Ahmedabad under DST-NIMAT scheme, here on Saturday, he dwelt at length about the changing scenario in the entrepreneurship.

"Skills for career advancement were not the same as they were a decade ago. As the competencies increases, same is not with employment opportunities, hence an alternate platform to generate employability is entrepreneurship," Rao said. He also stressed the importance of the FDP in bringing up the culture at institution through this trained group of eminent faculty.

Dr P Sammaiah, head of Department of Mechanical Engineering, stressed on the importance of research, apart from project-based evaluation curriculum which engages students appropriately.

Nest for Entrepreneurship in Science & Technology (Centre for Entrepreneurship) at SREC has initiated lot of activities like Ideafest (Pitching of Ideas worth solving), Prototyping Boot Camp (Intensive 15 days workshop aims in bilding the product), and Tinker camp (4day scratch to building a product) with an objective to make students problem seekers and solution providers for the societal issues.

Dr Jay Praksah Srivastava, FDP Convener, has informed that 24 faculty from 11 institutes across the county has taken part in FDP Programme. He added that ideation, business models, detail project report, behavioral finance, strategy, social media for startups, idea to product, design thinking concept were covered by eminent experts for two-week stretched programme.

Dr Suman Naredla, FDP chief programme coordinator, said that onus is on faculty to build the ecosystem to achieve the objective of building enterprises through student innovators.
