Warangal gets rehabilitation centre for differently abled
Warangal: A rehabilitation centre for differently abled people to come up on the premises of MGM Hospital, Warangal Urban District Collector Prashanth Jeevan Patil revealed. Speaking at a meeting here on Tuesday, he said that the Central government has sanctioned a rehabilitation centre for physically challenged for Warangal. The rehabilitation centres also to come up at Nalgonda, Medak, Mahbubnagar and Karimnagar districts, the Collector said. The Centre will provide the funding for the rehabilitation centres, he added.
The government has decided to entrust the responsibility of running the rehabilitation centre in Warangal with the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), he said. After conducting screening tests, the beneficiaries would be admitted to the rehabilitation centre.
The Collector told the IRCS to engage expert doctors and psychologists to enlighten the world of differently abled. The IRCS was also told to acquire expertise from the best in the business. The doctors' team would also include a paediatrician, the Collector said. MGM Hospital superintendent Dr B Srinivas Rao and IRCS Warangal Chapter chairman P Vijaychander Reddy were among others present.
