Warangal: GWMC to give fillip to sanitation
Warangal: The Greater Warangal civic body has purchased a fleet of vehicles to keep the city clean, Mayor Gunda Prakash Rao said.
The Mayor, who along with Municipal Commissioner Pamela Satpathy, flagged off the new vehicles here on Wednesday, said that they have purchased 30 tractors, 30 trolleys, 10 water tankers and 13 Swachh auto-rickshaws with the Rs 6.90 crore Pattana Pragathi funds. Prakash Rao said that plans are afoot to add more new vehicles to tackle sanitation situation in the city.
"Despite the economic slowdown caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation was able to take up developmental works with the State Government coming to its rescue by providing funds under Pattana Pragathi," the Mayor said. He said that with the procurement of new vehicles, the staff would be able to raise the standards of sanitation in the city.
Additional Commissioner Ch Nageshwar, in-charge MHO GV Narayana Rao, Superintending Engineer Vidyasagar and Agros Regional Manager Kantha Rao were among others present.
