Warangal: Hackathon focuses on Smart E-challenges

Warangal: Students need to actively participate in programmes that showcase latest technological innovations, Rajya Sabha Member Banda Prakash said. He was speaking at the 24 Hours Hackathon on 'Smart E-Challenges-2020' jointly organised by the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) and Institution's Innovation Council (IIC), Kakatiya Institute of Technology & Science Warangal (KITSW) in association with Telangana IT Association (TITA), Prakash emphasised the need for focusing on research to develop innovative technology that largely help the societal good, especially farmers.

The theme of the Hackathon focuses on challenges such as smart streetlights, smart water management, ambulance pick-up management, accident management system, smart usage of natural resources (air, water, forest, land and mineral resources), plastic waste management and smart agri-techniques, he added. Guest of honour Sandeep Kumar Makthala, founder and president, TITA, Hyderabad, said that programmes such as Hackathon enrich the skills of students. Principal Prof K Ashoka Reddy said that the main objectives of IIC is to interact with business leaders and top-notch academicians, mentoring by industry professionals and opportunity to nurture and prototype new ideas. He told the students to concentrate on multidisciplinary skills with focus on new innovations through emerging technologies.

Ashutosh Kulakarni, adviser projects, Trans finite, Mumbai, Prof Uday Dighe, adviser for infrastructure, Sudheer pawar, business head, SAP, Trans Finite Mumbai, Prof B Rama Devi, Prof P Srikanth and Dr V Chandrashekar Rao, Dr M Raju, Dr K Soujanya and PRO Dr D Prabhakara Chary were among others present.
