Warangal: Maoists support RTC strike

Warangal: The ongoing TSRTC strike which entered the third day on Monday, got an unexpected support from the CPI-Maoists. In a letter purportedly released by the Maoist official spokesperson Jagan, the banned outfit extended its support to RTC strike. It alleged that the State government which intentionally neglected the RTC is now trying to push the blame on to employees.

The government had neglected all justifiable demands such as – merger of RTC with the government, filling of driver and conductor posts, release of funds to RTC, job security, exemption of motor vehicle fee etc – and is now trying to threaten the employees, the Maoists said.

"Instead of considering the demands, the State government is threatening to impose the Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) and suspend those employees taking part in the strike," the letter said. The letter also stated that the government was trying to throttle the voice of employees thereby bulldozing their rights.

Since, TRS came to power the RTC further sank into losses. The government had never tried to rescue the RTC from losses. It's a ploy to privatise the RTC, the Maoists alleged. The letter urged people to extend their support to the RTC employees' strike.
