Warangal: MLA Nannapaneni Narender seeks pensions for transgenders

Warangal: The ruling TRS MLA from Warangal East constituency, Nannapaneni Narender, appealed to Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to implement pension scheme for the transgenders in the Telangana State. Speaking to the media here on Wednesday, he explained to the government about 58,000 transgender population across Telangana, who have Aadhaar, food security and voter ID cards, eligible for the pension scheme.

Narender urged the Chief Minister to include 6,000 transgender population located in the Warangal East constituency under pension scheme. He suggested the government to implement the pension scheme under special category or merge them with the differently-abled category so that they could get pension. He further appealed to the Chief Minister to include transgender in the BPL families.

Stating that there are about 4,000 families residing in the 38 areas in Warangal East constituency, who have constructed pucca houses with door numbers as per the new municipal laws but they are yet to get ownership title from the government, Narender said that he would take it to the notice of the Chief Minister.

The MLA urged the government to provide pensions to beedi workers who were not having PF facility. These workers have been waiting for the government's concern for more than 30 years, Narender said.
