Warangal: Self-motivation key for success

Warangal: Besides imparting quality education, inculcating self-motivation among the students is also a major parameter to achieve success, Kakatiya Institute of Technology & Science, Warangal (KITSW) Principal Prof K Ashok Reddy said here on Friday, speaking at an orientation programme organised on the campus for newly joined B Tech students.

"Focus is on problem solving ability, critical thinking, self-motivation, communication skills etc," Reddy said, referring to the training given to the students in acquiring soft skills, technical skills, leadership qualities right from the first year itself. "

Claiming that KITSW is a zero-ragging institute, he said that the disciplinary committee (DISCO) is entrusted with the responsibility of inculcating brotherhood and national integrity among the student. Referring to the academics, he said that each class is important for the students as the institute has introduced continuation evaluation system by maintaining Outcome Based Education (OBE).

In tune with the AICTE guidelines, the institute has been conducting induction training programme for first year students on life skills for all round development, he said.

Dean of Academic Affairs Prof C Venkatesh said that the main objective of the programme is to improve communication skills, teamwork, critical innovative thinking, technical knowledge, managerial competence, interactive abilities and strong HR base among the students.

Head of the Department of the Physical Education Prof P Ramesh Reddy told the students to make use of sports and games facilities provided by the management. Students have to participate in any sports or games twice in a week, he added.

According to Dean, Training & Placement, Prof Srikanth Pabba, several companies have expressed their willingness for campus recruitment and more students are expected to be placed in the coming days in the core and software fields. For the last academic year 513 students were placed in the campus placement drives.

Rajya Sabha member and KITSW Secretary & Correspondent Capt. V Lakshmikantha Rao and Treasurer P Narayana Reddy wished the students bright future.
