Warangal: In a bid to inspire the residents to participate in Shramadanam (volunteering of labour), Warangal Urban District Collector Prashanth Jeevan Patil got himself involved in it by dumping waste into tractors at Shanigaram and Nerella villages under Hasanparthy mandal and Arvapally village under Hasanparthy mandal on Thursday.

The Collector, who inspected the progress of the 30-day special action plan at Shanigaram, Nerella and Arvapally villages, emphasised the need for continuing Haritha Haram and sanitation programmes round the year. "Shanigaram Panchayat would get a grant of Rs 62 lakh per annum. The panchayat would have at least Rs 50 lakh after excluding maintenance expenditure at its disposal to carry developmental works with emphasis on sanitation and plantation programmes," Patil told the residents.

All that the panchayats have to do is to identify developmental works based on priority, and carry them properly, the Collector said. He directed the Transco officials to resolve the power problems faced by the residents of Shanigaram. He commended the Sarpanch P Ravali, who donated land for dumping yard and graveyard.

He directed the Arvapally local body to ensure avenue plantation besides arranging tree guards for the safety of saplings. He told the Panchayat to change the sanitation workers if they fail to discharge their duties properly. Stating that the Panchayat would get Rs 25 lakh per annum from the government, the Collector told the authorities to plan accordingly for the development of their village.

DRDO P Ramu and Hasanparthy mandal special officer K Damodar Reddy were among others present.
