Warangal: Walmart opens fourth store in Telangana State

Warangal: With not many opportunities around, a large number of local youth have been migrating to other places in search of employment, multinationals like Walmart needs to give priority to them, Warangal Urban District Collector Prashanth Jeevan Patil said, taking part in the inauguration of Best Price Cash & Carry Store in Warangal on Wednesday. The store is Walmart's fourth in Telangana and in all 27th in the country.

Stating that Warangal city has vast potential for business and resources of all kinds, he offered to organise an interactive session for the Walmart and other corporate companies to identify a pool of talent that suits to their needs. He also wanted the Walmart to help farmers get their due by avoiding middlemen.

Walmart India President and CEO Krish Iyer said they have signed 31,000 members even before the launch of the store. He said that the store sources some of its produce from the local farmers thus assuring a regular income to them. It also provides direct and indirect employment to about 2,000 people.

Warangal East MLA Nannapuneni Narender, MPs Pasunuri Dayakar and Banda Prakash and Mayor Gunda Prakash Rao were among others present. It may be mentioned here that Walmart store caters only to those possessing trade licenses and is not meant for retailers. It is a wholesale store supplying products in bulk to the local traders.
