Warangal: Youth told to be agent of change

Warangal: Nothing is impossible if people have strong will power, determination, perseverance, faith and unbridled passion towards their goal, Commissioner of Police, Warangal, Vishwanath Ravindar said on Tuesday.

Speaking as the chief guest at the Youth Convention organised by the Bala Vikasa as part of its efforts to empower and mobilise youth to be agents of change in sustainable development here on Tuesday, the Commissioner quoted the inspiring story of Karoly Takacs, the first shooter who won two Olympic gold medals after a gruesome injury that left him with just one hand, to encourage the youth.

Bala Vikasa founder Bala Theresa emphasised the role of youth in development and vision of a society that is inclusive, value-based and progressive. Bala Vikasa Executive Director Shoury Reddy told the participants to think about the change that they want to be in the society and inspired them to try new avenues like social innovation and entrepreneurship to earn their livelihoods while solving critical social problems.

Resource persons from various sectors discussed pressing concerns such as addictions, substance abuse, teenage attractions, social media usage, importance of education, human values and career choices. Nearly 3,000 young boys and girls from over 250 villages of the two Telugu-speaking States – Telangana and Andhra Pradesh attended the convention.
