Water ATM becomes dysfunctional in Kukatpally

Kukatpally: The water ATM installed by GHMC has become dysfunctional in Kukatpally due to lack of maintenance. Citizens experience technical glitches with the ATM machine while inserting coins. Water supplying pipe remains unresponsive or broken and most of the time the water ATM is switched off and left without maintenance.

"It's disappointing every time to see government negligence in every project. GHMC initiates good things but always fails to maintain," said Mahesh, resident of Kukatpally. Locals and citizens who used to depend on water vending machines completely lost hopes and are forced to buy water bottles.

The water ATMs at other places such as Rahmath Nagar, Yousufguda, NTR Marg, BS Marg, Musheerabad, Necklace road and Osmania University are also in pathetic conditions. In fact, water ATMs left unused across the city for more than 9 months.

The coin slots have been damaged and the reading is not visible, water outlet pipes of machines were broken and at few some places the steel tumblers have also been stolen. Moreover, steel glass which is kept for public to drink water is seen in worst condition. People are mostly confused to identify whether the water ATM is working or not because there is no proper maintenance.

Around 140 water ATMs were installed in the city out of the 200 planned. Around 50 were installed near markets and bus stops and they are now completely dysfunctional. Water ATMs in commercial places like Rythu Bazars, Local markets and commercial places often suffer from technical glitches.
