Water conservation must be a mass movement

Nizamabad: Nikunja Kishore Sundaray, Joint Secretary in India's Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, gave a call to everyone to work as a movement to conserve water. Rudrur Krishi Vignan Kendra had organised Kisan Mela at Nizamabad Ambedkar Bhavan on Friday. Nikunja Kishore Sunderay, who was the chief guest, said the programme was being selected and implemented in 256 districts across the country and they have visited Nizamabad district first as the Nizamabad district administration had responded swiftly and provided necessary reports and the District Collector had coordinated all the departments and ensured all the plans in place.

He said the public response was good in Ankapur, Pacchalanadkuda, Issapalli and Janakampet villages and Ankapur village is especially active in agriculture, where the farmers cultivate crops with minimum water. Kishore said that today, everyone has to work towards water conservation to prevent future water problems.

Rainwater harvesting is required in all areas, on farms, on farmland, and on land, which will increase groundwater levels.

District Collector M Ram Mohan Rao said the Jala Sakthi Abhiyan programme, which started from July 1 and will continue till September 15.
