Water pumping from Tileru to Koilsagar begins in Mahbubnagar
Mahbubnagar: Pumping of water from Tileru Lift to Koilsagar gravity canal has finally began on Thursday, with officials pumping 315 cusecs of water to Koilsagar reservoir in Mahbubnagar district, which they said is expected to be filled in the next 2-3 days.
The Koilsagar reservoir has a capacity of 2 TMC and due to some technical glitches in the motors, the pumping of water was halted for more than one week, due to which the farmers of the Koilsagar ayacut expressed displeasure. However, thanks to the speedy work of the irrigation officials, they repaired the motors in just one day and began pumping of water with one motor on Thursday.
The officials said that very soon the second motor will also come into function and then it will pump water full-fledged and very soon Koilsagar will be filled with Jurala waters. At present, the authorities are lifting water from Jurala by Undhyala lift and supplying water to Parthipur reservoir.
The Parthipur reservoir is already filled and from there the authorities are lifting water with two motors at Tileru lift and pumping it into the Koilsagar gravity canal. "At present we have repaired one motor and pumping water into Koilsagar reservoir.
We are expecting very soon we will repair the second motor also and ensure that the water will reach Koilsagar and ensure the reservoir is filled in the next two to three days enabling the farmers of this region to take up irrigation in a big way," said the project authorities. Currently, Jurala project is receiving more than 3 lakh cusecs of flood water from Narayanpur.
