What an idea CM sirji ! Turn 85K BHKs into corona isolation wards if needed: CM KCR to Health Minister
Hyderabad: In case of spike in coronavirus cases, the Telangana government will make use of 85,000 2BHKs (that are almost in completion stage) to house patients.
Each house can accommodate two patients at least which means overall nearly 1.6 lakh cases could be kept under isolation if required.
Elaborating these details, Health Minister Eatala Rajender said that Chief Minister gave him the idea in case present isolation wards in government hospitals and also teaching hospitals of private medical colleges are filled to full capacity.
According to Rajender, even Wuhan (the epicentre of the disease) in China did not have this much bed capacity compared to Telangana.
Eatala rushed to Pragathi Bhavan in the afternoon where he apprised the Chief Minister of the containment measures and preparedness of the Health Department. He stated that isolation wards in government hospitals in King Koti, Vikarabad apart from the existing three ( Gandhi, Fever and Chest) have been readied with medical teams, protective gear, medicines and equipment.
Speaking to newsmen, Rajender reiterated that no person staying anywhere in Telangana was infected with the deadly virus so far. The one positive case is that of a person infected in Dubai and he travelled to Telangana.
The big thing is that neither his mother and father (who were in close contact with him since his return) nor the medical staff or the doctors were infected with the virus as indicated in samples testing negative, Eatala said, appealing people not to overreact or get panicked.
He said that the 104 helpline would be available 24x7 and people having any concerns or apprehensions are free to call it. Rajender said that even the Union Health Ministry has appreciated and lauded the swift reaction and efforts taken by Telangana in the last three, four days.
The Health Minister stated that the sample could only be taken from a person if he or she had Covid-19 symptoms as per the protocol.
He informed that two foreigners from Argentina and some people from the city visited Gandhi Hospital on Thursday and sought samples be taken although they did not show related symptoms.
Covid-19 sample cannot be done if someone wants it to be done or ready to pay money for the test, he said, adding that call would be taken by dedicated doctors attached to the wing.
