Will cement factory in Adilabad see light of the day?

Update: 2020-02-21 00:01 IST

Adilabad: Though the government gave permission, the establishment of private cement factory in Adilabad district has been delayed due to the negligence of the authorities concerned. About two and half years ago, the government gave green signal for opening a private cement factory in the district as there is plenty of limestone and also issued orders for mining. The government set a deadline of three years to set up the industry.

Some private managements came forward to setup the cement industry with an estimation cost of Rs 1 crore. But, the revenue officials have not taken any decision till date on land acquisition.

Now the question is whether the officials have returned Rs 7 crore, the amount which the private managements had deposited into the account of revenue department for land acquisition. The mining officials have transformed the limestone lease land documentation from Birla Cement Factory management to Renuka Cement Factory management as the latter came forward to establish cement factory with an estimation cost of Rs 1 crore.

If the cement factory is established, as many as 2,000 people will get employment both directly and indirectly. Though Renuka Cement Factory management is ready to set up the factory, locals alleged that the revenue department officials are not paying attention in this regard.

The cement factory, once starts working, will produce two million tonnes cement and it will be a big opportunity for the people of Adilabad and nearby villages.

The establishment of cement factory not only gives jobs to many, but also several other income sources will develop, like marketing transactions will increase, good for the business sector and government will get an income in the form of Royalty.

For the establishment of the factory, the State government had given 1572.89 acres on lease at Yapalguda and Ramai villages under Adilabad mandal. Of this land, 747 acres was kept aside as it comes under Yapalguda agency area. 783 acres was identified for the construction of the factory near Ramai village and of this total land, 664 acres was for mining and 118 acres was for the construction of plant.

These 747 acres include government land, ceiling land, assigned land, and private patta lands. The government has to pay Rs 6 lakh per acre as compensation to acquire this land. Revenue officials had estimated that about Rs 40 crores has to be paid as compensation to the landowners.

Despite the government's deadline of three years is going to conclude soon, still there is no movement in the revenue officials.
