With 61 feet high, Khairatabad Ganesh claimed to be tallest idol in India

This year, the gigantic Ganesh idol at Khairatabad has been sculpted at 61 feet, which is claimed to be the tallest idol in the country by the organisers. Last year, it was 57 feet.

Singari Sudershan Mudiraj, chairman and founder of Khairatabad Ganesh Utsava Committee said that Ganesh idol will be depicted in Dwadashi Aditya Maha Ganapati avatar which is believed to give adequate rainfall and good climate. The idol will have 13 faces of different gods, 24 hands holding weapons and seven horses pulling a chariot, he added.

Around 150 workers from various states including Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and other places is said to have put their hands in sculpting the idol for over four months. Currently, the final touch is being to the idol and it will be opened for worship on September 2 afternoon.
