Woman conductor commits suicide in Khammam district

Khammam: The ongoing TSRTC strike has claimed one more life in Khammam district on Monday. According to reports, woman conductor identified as B Neeraja (31) allegedly committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling fan at her residence at Kaviraja Nagar in Khammam on Monday.

The woman conductor belonged to Sathupalli bus depot and was actively participating in the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) strike.

The incident led to several serious protests across the district by RTC workers and opposition parties. According to sources, Neeraja was worried about the ongoing strike, which entered 25th day on Monday, and the State government's negligent attitude towards RTC workers.

It is learnt that Neeraja went to Pallegudem under Khammam Rural mandal to her parent's house for Diwali festival along with her husband and two children.

However, after receiving a call from other striking employees seeking her participation in the strike, Neeraja allegedly left her children and husband B Raja Sekhar at her parent's house and went to her house in Khammam and committed suicide.

Her children daughter Poojitha was studying in fourth class and son Vishal was studying in second class and her husband Bheemili Raja Sekhar was working as a supervisor at a granite factory in Khammam. The RTC JAC leaders visited Neeraja's residence and expressed condolences over the death.

In may be mentioned here that, during the early stages of protests RTC driver P Srinivas Reddy self-immolated self in support for the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation strike in Khammam.
