Women workers beaten to pulp by Khaki-clad men
Hyderabad: Women RTC workers alleged that the police beat them black and blue during 'Chalo Tank Bund' protest on Saturday.
The victims said that they were manhandled by male police officials at different points near Tank Bund.
Some of the women workers fainted while others received bleeding injuries during the clashes. They thronged towards Tank Bund Road by jumping over the barricades thrown over by the male workers.
The police personnel did not spare elderly women protesters also near Ambedkar statue premises. A women employee, who is said to be conductor in Kacheguda depot, was allegedly beaten by a male police official. Similarly, several women workers were seen weeping after they were hit by lathis.
The women workers showed more intent during the protest as they came down to the last level of security at Tank Bund road.
While woman BJP leader Akula Lalitha came up to the Ambedkar statue, SL Padma of CPIML New Democracy came near the last barricade at Tank Bund. However, the senior police officials took her into custody.
A male police officer was allegedly seen slapping a woman employee near Domalguda lane during stone pelting. This led to bleeding from her nose and she also fainted and several of her colleagues were seen crying.
Male employees who came to console the female worker were also beaten by the police in the lathi charge.
The women protestors also planned their protest programme in a different way. The women employees came from the routes where there were no female police personnel.
At several places, the women police personnel were seen coming after the agitators after they got injured in the hands of male police personnel.
