Women's stir continues against CAA/NRC/NPR in Shivrampally
Shivrampally: Inspired by Shaheen Bagh of Delhi, women in large numbers attended the 'Women's Protest Conference' against CAA-NRC-NRP, organised by United Muslim Action Committee (UMAC) at Jamia Islamia Darul-ul-Uloom seminary at Shivarampalli on NH-44 on Sunday.
Following the success of 'Tiranga Rally' on January 10 at NH-44 and 'Ehtejaji Mushaira' at Khilwat Ground near Charminar the Committee, the UMAC led by AIMIM witnessed good response, where women from across the city attended.
"The Preamble defines India as a sovereign socialist secular democratic republic, committed to secure to all its citizens justice, liberty, equality and fraternity. But the government of today is going against and destroying the basic ideas of the Constitution," said Ayesha Sultana of Jamaat-e-Islami.
Meanwhile, Ayesha Rubeen, an AIMIM leader, Dr Masroor Saberi, Aqeela Khamushi, President of Tameer-e-Millat and Member of All India Muslim Personal Law Board, Sindhiya, president of Progressive Women's Organisation, Asiya Tasneem, president of Women Jamait-e-Islami, Rafiya Nausheen, an activist, Maulana Husamuddin, Hafez Peer Shabbir Ahmed Jamait-ul-Ulema and others also addressed the gathering.
AIMIM chief and MP Asaduddin Owaisi said that the protest against CAA-NRC-NPR would be long and arduous but they would not give up. He said that he and other organisation members filed a case in Supreme Court and on the very first hearing, the court gave the Centre 5 weeks time to submit its response. The MP asked the women gathering to pray for the unconstitutional laws to be rolled back.
Owaisi said that "The protests are not by any party or one organisation. This is being done to save the soul of our country, the Constitution of India. It's our country. It's our children's country and nobody can take that away from us."
Supporting the protests being conducted all over the country, he praised the women of Shaheen Bagh in Delhi who had been protesting for the last 50 days. He said, "We will not forget the sacrifices of 25 protesters who died in protests. We will not forget Minhajuddin, the student who lost his eye in Jamia police brutality. We will not forget that police personnel entered the girls hostels and assaulted female students. We will not forget that an AMU student's hand had to be amputated. We will not forget the UP CM's 'badla vow' and the 'reign of revenge' that resulted in numerous Muslims being assaulted and killed by UP Police."
