Nirmal: Work with coordination to protect forests, said Superintendent of Police (SP) C Shashidhar Raju while addressing a coordination meeting at the forest office meeting hall in Nirmal on Wednesday. Chief Conservator of Forest Vinod Kumar also present at the meeting.
SP C Shashidhar Raju spoke at length on shift cultivation, Haritha Haram, green houses forest conservation, regeneration of exotic forests, replanting greenery and related
police cases on forest land and actions to be taken similarly the police department. He said that the forest department has been working together to bring awareness among the public and took measures to protect the forest.
A power point presentation was given showing the forests earlier and now with the help of google maps. It was explained to the authorities how the forest land is becoming extinct. The Wildlife Protection Act 1972 and Forest Conservation Act 1980 outline the laws and punishments to those, who damage the forests and itsproducts.
Harsh punishment will be enforced if anyone kills animals,he warned.District Additional SP Dakshinamurthy, Nirmal DFO Prasad, DSP Upender Reddy, SB inspector Venkatesh, CIs, SIs and forest officials were present.
