Workshop on MOOCs inaugurated at MANUU
Hyderabad: The UGC - Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) at Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) is organizing a week long workshop on Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs).
Prof V. Venkaiah, Former Vice Chancellor Krishna University, while inaugurating the workshop said that teachers will not get respected from students if they are unaware of modern technologies. Teachers should be able to give quick answers to the student for their queries regarding latest information technology. He explained in detail about role and importance ICT, e-learning, e-content, m-learning and open educational resources and open access. Highlighting the advantages of MOOCs, he said it allows free access and unrestricted participation to any course. It also provides a platform for interactive forums for online courses, he added.
The workshop will continue till 22nd June.
Dr M.A. Sikandar, Registrar and I/c Director, said the multidisciplinary workshop is the need of hour and approved by UGC, New Delhi. He also said that technology, e-learning, e-content and MOOCs platform are of additional value and teachers' effectiveness plays important role.
Thirty five participants of different disciplines from various Degree Colleges/Universities of Andhra Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Kerala are attending the workshop.
Earlier, Dr. Tahseen Bilgrami, Deputy Director, HRDC welcomed the gathering. Dr. Ishtiyaq Ahmad, Assistant Professor proposed vote of thanks.
