Youth should take part in social movements: Activist

Hyderabad: Woman activist and scholar Vasanthi Raman on Saturday called upon the youth to come forward and participate in the movements for social transformation.

Delivering a lecture at the great revolutionary and Srikakulam peasants armed struggle leader Pyla Vasudeva Rao's 6th memorial meeting here, she said especially, the women should be encouraged everywhere for their due share and a role should be played by them in decision making and women should be in leadership roles.

She criticised the right-wing forces in destructing the country by dividing the people in various parts of this country in the name of religion. Now, communalism has entered into various sectors.

"We need to fight Hindutva which is destroying the social harmony of this country by penetrating into academic institutions also. Women should be encouraged to participate and take up leadership roles in all sectors including political parties and movements," she said.

Dr K Ramachandramurthy, Editorial Director, Sakshi media group, said that people like Pyla sacrificed their life for the cause of marginalised people.

He also revealed that they had interviewed Pyla through Mallepalli Laxmaiah and Aruna and telecasted it on HMTV channel in 2010.

Educationist, Chukka Ramaiah said the leaders who worked with dedication they are the heroes. "Character is important for leaders and that will inspire the people.

Pyla Vasudevarao was such a leader who led simple living with great commitment and dedication.
