YouTubers making hay while pandemic reigns
Hyderabad: The lockdown imposed by the State and Central governments to contain coronavirus spread has forced many individuals to create their own YouTube channels. Unlike in the past, now individuals are preferring to start their own YouTube channelsinstead of forming few groups of friends or partnership.
These channels not only create popularity but also give an opportunity of monetization through advertising. The money is based on the number of views a video garners, says budding Youtubers.
"I worked as a news anchor for several Telugu channels. I had to leave the industry as I had to relocate to my husband's place after I got married. But, the passion is still alive and thanks to lockdown, I could step ahead and create a YouYube channel named 'Siri Homes'. Through this channel I present Vlog talks, recipes, beauty tips and some entertaining talks. It's been 45 days that I launched my own channel and I have around 250 subscribers now, which I feel it's a good start," said Siri Chandhana, 28, Youtuber.
YouTube has become a source of income for many unemployed youths and those who have been laid by the companies. "I used to work as a customer associate for Amazon and I lost my job in March, I tried in many other MNCs but was left with disappointment. Then I started a YouTube channel named 'pacchipulusu media' showcasing real time struggles of a software employee. The first one was shot by a mobile phone which turned out to be a big hit and then I started concentratingmore on it.Next, I bought a Cannon camera with my last salary and started making short films. Now, I have a turnover of at least Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000 per month through my channel," said T Prem Kumar, a Youtuber and Short film Maker.
"I always wanted to be an entrepreneur. I worked as a teacher before my marriage. Now, I have a new-born baby and I can't go out to work. So, I started a Youtube channel titled 'Rama Vlogs and talks'. I started presenting reviews about different cosmetic products of major brands on my channel, I got enough support from viewers and am very happy about the decision I made after this success. I started my channel just 20 days ago and has received around 893 views for my channel," said G Rama Devi, Youtuber.
