ZP chief Lingala Kamal Raj stresses on importance of book reading in Khammam

Khammam: Zilla Parishad Chairman Lingala Kamal Raj on Friday said that book fairs can be helpful for all ages to improve their knowledge. The Chairman inaugurated a book fair at Rikka Bazar high school.

Speaking on the occasion, he said every student must make it a habit to read books as it is very useful for students and also helps them to improve knowledge. He appreciated the Hyderabad book fair for conducting book fair programmes at a time in 135 schools in around the district.

District Collector R V Karnan said that book fairs give students a good opportunity to explore what kinds of books or genre interests them. He informed that a plan to conduct book fairs in junior and degree colleges in the district in the offing. State Backward Caste (BC) Commission member Gouri Shanker, while speaking on the occasion said, special thanks to the District Collector for extending support for the conduct of book fair in the district.

He said every student should read books. He also recalled history of great leaders of the nation Mahatma Gandhi, Dr B R Ambedkar and how they were ardent readers.

Mayor Dr G Paplal, Trainee Collector Adrash Surabhi, District Librarian Chairman Khamer, District Educational Officer Madan Mohan, Hyderabad Book Fair Secretary Chandramouli, Corporators Sitamma, Nagamani and headmaster of the school and teachers and staff attended the programme.
