ZPTC, MPTC polls end peacefully in Adilabad district
Adilabad: The second phase of the local body elections to 20 ZPTC and 181 MPTC seats were held peacefully across erstwhile Adilabad district including Adilabad, Nirmal, Mancherial, Kumram Bheem Asifabad districts on Friday.
In all 87 candidates were in the fray for 20 ZPTC and 597 for 181 MPTCs seats across the four districts. In Adilbad district, the local body elections were held in Bazharhathnoor, Boath, Neradigonda, Gudihathnoor,Talamadugu mandals for 5 ZPTC and 49 MPTC seats. As many as 23 candidates were in fray for 5 ZPTC and 169 for 49 MPTC seats. Polling was held in 269 polling stations, out of which 107 were identified as sensitive.
In Nirmal district, the second phase polls were held in Narsapur G, Nirmal, Sarangapur, Soan, Kuntala, Lokeshwaram mandals for 6 ZPTC seats and 21 candidates are in fray. As many as 146 candidates contesting for 53 MPTC posts. Polling was held in 286 polling stations.
In kumram Bheem Asifabad district, territorial constituency elections were held in Kagaznagar, Asifabad, Rebbena and Tiryani mandals where 21 candidates were contesting for 4 ZPTC seats. As many as 152 candidates were in the fry for 42 MPTC seats for which polling was held in 228 polling stations in the district.
In Mancherial district, polling was held in Chennur, Kotapalli, Mandamarri, Jaipur, Bheemaram mandals, for 5 ZPTC and 34 MPTC seats (out of 37 MPTC seats).
In all 22 candidates were in the fray for 5 ZPTC seats.
MPTC for Parupalli, Bheemaram under Bheemaram mandal and Pegadapalli under Jaipur mandal segments was declared unanimous.
In all 130 candidates were in the fray for 34 MPTC seats. Even in Maoist- affected mandals a good turnout of voters was witnessed in erstwhile Adilabad district.
