Stranger Things Season 3 Episode 03
Shawn Levy is back at the helm for this one and we see once again, a drop in the pace. The malls, rats, the upside down teases are all fine but the story again seems to be stuck with nothing of significance happening.
It feels like you need a skip ahead button like skip intro after a point. Still, somdgor the characters, especially Mike seems to be too charming to escape from and that is the goo that keeps us sticking. Slightly, kids start annoying us too, as their escapades seem too eccentric.
The romantic side of the story is just too derailing and the way it keeps moving forward, you sense that the makers are consumed by the idea of giving 80's nostalgia, a full run than just a nod there and a nudge here.
Even though the technical departments seem to have come together really well, the way the story moves at times, gives us a feel that except for writers everyone were given enough time to work and do their job well.
The snail pace is really hurting the season and overall likeability of it. One might argue that you have to complete a season to get an idea but this series needs a lot more patience if it continues to deliver such episodes as the standards set are high and they need to continue at that level, if they want people to return back all the time.
