12 sand-laden tractors seized in Srikakulam
Meliaputti police seized 12 sand-laden tractors here on Friday.
Srikakulam: Meliaputti police seized 12 sand-laden tractors here on Friday. According to Meliaputti SI N Siddardha Kumar, some unidentified persons carrying sand in tractors excavated from Mahendratanaya river at Bahusala in Odisha state to border districts Palasa and other areas in Srikakulam district.
Tractor owners and drivers are choosing Gandahati water falls road to avoid police vigil. In Odisha, there is no restrictions on sand excavation and due to this reason, the tractor owners and drivers are choosing Odisha and excavating sand there and selling it in urban areas in the district for high price.
Per tractor load of sand, the tractor owners are collecting Rs 5,000 in Palasa, sources said. We have registered a case against the tractor owners and drivers for illegal entry into AP state with sand loads without having permissions from the government, police said.
