Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that 22 Judge posts lying vacant in Andhra Pradesh High Court. The minister replied to a question raised by YSR Congress Rajya Sabha member V Vijayasai Reddy. Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that the process of recruitng judges in the High Court would be taken up by the Chief Justice of the High Court. However, the minister said that this six-month period does not have to be obligated.

He said the recruitment or transfer of judicial posts is a continuous process and should be done with the coordination between the government and the judiciary. He said the appointment of judges was delayed due to the technical problems of having consensus with various constitutional bodies, states and central level consultations.

"Despite, there are active steps taken towards filling the vacancies, there vancacies are still pertaining in High Court due to the promotions, retirement and increase in the number of judges," the Minister explained.
